Take a Polo lesson from Erik Wright www.wrightwaypolo.com    There is no need to own a horse, Erik has Polo horse available long and short term.

  •   A little bit  of information about the sport:
The earliest records of Polo are Persian, with the game spreading to Constantinople, Turkestan, Tibet, China and Japan.  India got their start in the 16th century.  There have been 12 varieties of the game during its existence of at least 2000 years

Polo fields are typically 300 yards in length and 160-200 yards in width.  Four men on a team, two teams on the field for a game. Umpires, who should be two in number, well mounted and  with good knowledge of the rules of the game.

Each player is given a handicap rating based on how many goals he/she is worth to their side.  There are six periods of play called "chukkers" that last seven and a half minutes long.  Goal posts are 8 yards apart.  A fresh horse is used for every period of play.  Polo ponies must maintain a high level of conditioning to play.  It is said that your pony is 70% of your game.  There are rules of conduct that focus on safety and good horsemanship, It falls to the umpires to uphold these rules.

Ready? . . . .PLAY!
