Welcome - We're glad you're here!  We'd like to tell you a bit about ourselves . . . .

Formerly a strawberry farm, Buck n Horse Ranch began its journey in 1999.  Owner Gary Pollack, frustrated with the restrictions of improving leased facilities for his beloved Polo ponies, began his scouting mission for the perfect equine facility.  The 40 acres on the corner of Masten and Center in Gilroy had what he was looking for.  The main house and what is now our 8 stall barn were the only  buildings on site.

Safety was first on the list with a 6 foot cyclone perimeter fence.  Gary's passion for Polo was addressed with the installation of 2 Polo fields.  A one mile exercise track surrounds both fields. We then tackled the covered riding arena, a huge undertaking that offered shelter from both rain and sun.  Our 8 stall barn was next, with much thought going into the detail.  Various paddocks and small pastures were also being constructed during this time.  For exercising and rehabilitating, a computerized equisizer was installed.  With the completion of the arena, stalls washrack, and a hot walker were added. In addition, landscaping was ongoing.  Young trees destined to grow large enough to offer shade were planted in strategic spots.  Annuals and perennial plants were starting to fill in everywhere  Somewhere along the line, a pond seemed like a splendid idea.  The ranch began to take shape.

Overseer Kelly Holbrook has shared Gary's passion and eye for detail.  With over thirty years in the equine industry (ten of those with Gary), Kelly has been instrumental in helping Gary bring his vision to reality.  The health and welfare of all of the horses at the ranch is Kelly's number one priority.  Stopping to chat with guests, planting flowers, adjusting irrigation, or attending to Gary's breeding stock are just a sampling of the diversity of Kelly's duties.  As an integral part of ranch operations, Kelly sums up her involvement:  "It is a privilege to be a part of Gary's dream - Where I renew my commitment every day".

With our passion for the equine industry and our commitment to customer service, we welcome you to join us.  The ranch continues to deliver  beauty and warmth that we know you  and your horse will appreciate.

We hope you have enjoyed learning how we came to be.  Please browse through our Website to learn more about this great facility.
